Cadet Training: Squadron Activities
Mandatory Training is conducted Tuesday evenings, during the training year from September through June, at Beaver Hall (Map). Weekly training activities include drill, leadership training, survival training, community service, physical recreation (including team sports), and classes about aviation, instructional techniques, and Canadian Forces traditions. The training syllabus is geared to the cadets' level and experience from beginner (Level 1) to senior cadet (Level 5). These training activities are published in the training schedule and revised as required.
Optional training is conducted on specified weekends or other weeknights. These include being members of the drill team, pipes and drums band, and the rifle team. Some elements of the training program qualify for school credits, depending on the course and the province in which the squadron is located. Optional training activities are usually scheduled at least three months in advance (Events Calendar).
